LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN
Posted Monday 15 March, 2010 1:59 PM
The 9th National Games of the Special Olympics will be held in Adelaide, South Australia 19 24 April 2010. The Flame of Hope will be carried from the Gold Coast, down the eastern seaboard, including Tasmania and finally into South Australia.
SA Police will take carriage of the Flame of Hope from our interstate counterparts on Monday 12 April 2010 and conduct several country and metropolitan runs which will culminate with Commissioner Hyde accepting the Flame of Hope and lighting the games cauldron at the ceremonial opening to the 9th National Games of the Special Olympics on 19 April 2010. This will be the first time South Australia has hosted the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Each country and metropolitan run takes place between 2-6 kms and at the most 1 hr in duration. As this is a police operation, SAPOL will manage rolling road closures. Each event concludes with an official lighting of the cauldron ceremony, where the Mayor will be invited to talk prior to the lighting of the cauldron. The National Anthem is sung during the ceremony. Photo opportunities with the torch and cauldron exist.
Go to our website for all info on the "legs" www.sapolice.com.au
Members of the public also have the opportunity to run in this event, however the MUST first register at the following site www.runwiththelaw.com.au. -

10 CC

You dont get much more classic than this! 10cc may well be described as a tongue-in-cheek British art-pop band that found international success in the 1970s, but thats just part of the story. With 26 million albums sold, and perennial hits like Donna and "The Things We Do for Love, it soon becomes clear that 10cc are one of Britain's most original and innovative pop and rock bands.
Noted for their studio polish, advanced musicianship, impeccable vocal performances, and clever lyrics that contributed to a style later dubbed "art pop," 10cc first became successful for their classic singles that often parodied classic rock styles or satirised modern life. The band's original incarnationa quartet comprised of Mancunians Lol Crme, Kevin Godley, Eric Stewart, and Graham Gouldman10cc earned critical respect and public acclaim for many of their singles which showcased the band members' talents as pop musicians, singers, and songwriters while incorporating studio techniques and instrumental virtuosity more commonly associated with the English progressive art-rock bands of the same era. The current line-up includes long time members Graham Gouldman, Rick Fenn and Paul Burgess, joined by Mick Wilson and Mike Stevens.
