Goldeneye's Coming Back Post by: Dan The Internut 30 June, 2010 - 1:52 PM
Gaming nerds rejoice. The legendary James Bond shooter's coming back.
For anyone's who even dabbled in a first person shooter, you'd know that the original Goldeneye 007 on the Nintendo 64 (bring back the cartridge) was the awe-inspiring definition of the modern day shooter. It went where no shooter had gone before, offering an awesome movie tie-in that remained totally faithful to the movie. What license Goldeneye did take in regards to the game made sense, and had even non James Bond fans gagging to don the tuxedo and sip a martini. Shaken of course.
Well, this year's E3 expo brought with it the awesome news that later this year, your Wii (and sadly, the Wii only) will be graced by none other than Bond, James Bond in Goldeneye once again. What's more, it's had a face lift and offers even more of the ground-breaking original version.
Finally, it would be remiss of us not to mention the multiplayer element. The original N64 Goldeneye became the ire of many a girlfriend (for us gaming nerds that had girlfriends), as all across the world fans congregated to play the massively fun multiplayer shoot-em-up games. Power weapons in the Temple, grenade launchers in the Basement, even slaps only in the Caves... they're all back and because they're on the Wii, you'll be able to use the power of the internet to hook up with your friends.
Are you as excited as us about the re-release of Goldeneye? Or should we leave the legend as it was?

I think Goldeneye should be left to rest. It was an awesome game with the best multiplayer of it's time. That is the point tho. It's no Modern Warefare and gaming has changed alot since then. There was things you couldn't do back then that you can do now. The only way it would be worth getting excited about is if they redesigned the game with todays gameplay and graffics. Worth playing for an hour.

nah, Goldeneye should R.I.P. i'm 20, so the N64 was my best friend and trusted guardian growing up, and along with MarioKart, Goldeneye is a deadset classic that shouldn't be subjected to the failure that is the Wii, especially when there are so many better and more advanced first person shooters out there now. It will always stay reserved for those dedicated fans who keep their N64 in reasonable condition in a shoebox underneath their bed, and bring it out for that awesome night with the boys and the beers where talent and memory combine to face the might of the auto-shotgun or the rocket-launcher, in the depths of the library.

Yes & No. re James Bond, I agree the Old Story line of James Bond will never be the same in anyway., . movies, etc , but if a Wii game or any other group eg Play Station. Can, sort of bring in a TO DAYS type of JAMES BOND WHY NOT? Please just give it another go. .. Thanks from Margaret (of Redcliffe 4020)
