Killers Call It A Day Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin’ Blogger 20 January, 2010 - 6:16 AM
After months and months of speculation, The Killers have announced that they are taking an indefinite break following their upcoming Oz gigs.
This means the band’s show in Melbourne on February 21 will be their last in a very long time. Who knows, maybe forever.
“I’m not sure if people are aware of it but these are probably our last shows for a while,” guitarist Dave Keuning let slip to an Australian Associated Press journo late last week from his home in Las Vegas.
“We haven't had a break in quite a while. It’s just been touring and making records and on and on and on. It’s been like six years just kind of connected together.
“It’s like people just expect us to do that non-stop till we die, [your point being???] but we just want a little bit of time off, just to be myself and do what I want to do for a little bit.”
We all knew this was coming – there were plenty of rumours last year that the band was on the verge of a split and that Brandon Flowers was set to launch a solo career.
But we all got a bit confused by talk of an upcoming covers album and then The Killers announced they were coming back to Australia for the second time within a year, so we didn’t know what the hell was going on.
All we know now is that The Killers are set to headline this year’s Good Vibrations tour, which kicks off at Centennial Park in Sydney on February 13 and wraps up at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse on the 21st.
Will you miss The Killers? Will Brandon Flowers solo be just as good?

They've had a lot of great songs over the years but they're not one of the greatest bands ever. Killers aren't in the league of Foo Fighters or Pearl Jam.

Saw the Killers at Festival Hall back in about 2007, it was one of the best shows I have seen and 'Mr.Brightside' is still my all time favourite songs.

Thank god, they were never as good as they believed they were.
'Mr Brightside' & 'Somebody Told Me' were very good songs, the rest of the first album was pretty poor though, and the 2nd was just terrible.
Good riddance, and please, don't let that git have a solo career, just ride off into the sunset and never return.

I didn't think they were that great anyway. "Mr Brightside" is the only song of theirs I still like.
Got sick of them a while back, probably when none of their songs after that one actually sounded any good.
