In news sure to please Sydney music fans, the much-loved Hopetoun Hotel is reportedly re-opening its doors.

Indie record label owner Adrian Bull has reportedly taken over the pub.

“So I made a potentially childish decision on Friday. It'll certainly leave me in debt until the day I shuffle off. Sydney we will win again. My house will always be your home,” said Bull, on his Facebook page.

Located in the heart of inner-city Sydney, the Hopetoun Hotel was a place of legend during the '80s and '90s. It regularly played host to the biggest names in rock music, and it also served as the launching pad for thousands of local Aussie bands.

You Am I, Cruel Sea, Hoodoo Gurus and Paul Kelly were just some of the bands to play the iconic venue during its heyday.

It’s a win for rock music lovers.

“The Hopetoun Hotel was one of the most important live music venues in Sydney. It was a grassroots music venue, supporting shitloads of young bands from around the country as well as some big ones," said Triple M Rock News’ Dave O.

"It was everything you wanted a live music venue to be - intimate, rowdy and the beers were cold.

"So good to hear this venue is coming back.”
