Ray Manzarek, the founding keyboardist for the Doors, passed away this morning in Germany, according to a statement from his publicist.

The cause was bile duct cancer.

Triple M's Lee Simon spoke about Ray Manzarek, while Triple M Sydney's Becko added "he was the sound that defined the Doors."

"Ray Manzarek, succumbed to an illness that he'd been battling for a couple of years," Lee Simon said. "Some say the creative spark behind the band The Doors."

Manzarek was a member of the legendary rock band that formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, which effectively ended with the death of frontman Jim Morrison in 1971.

Manzarek is survived by his wife Dorothy, son Pablo, and three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in Manzarek’s name to standup2cancer.org.

If you are troubles viewing the below via a mobile click here.

Dave Grohl jammed with The Rolling Stones on "Bitch" from the classic Stones album, Sticky Fingers over the weekend.

As you can see in the video, Dave joined the Rolling Stones at The Honda Center in Anaheim on guitar and vocal. At one point Dave takes over the lead and nearly pushes the song over the edge. Brilliant.

"Dave Grohl, take a bow," ends Mick Jagger.

There is still no word on The Rolling Stones coming to Australia, but we will keep you posted.

STP Teams Up With Linkin Park

Grunge rockers debut new song with Chester Bennington.

Stone Temple Pilots minus Scott Weiland have teamed up with Linkin Park's Chester Bennington to record a new song called "Out Of Time".

They debuted it live at KROQ Weenie Roast. And the song rocks, or as Triple M's Higgo so succintly put it: "great f***in' song".

While Triple M's Becko exclaimed: "This is great, just sounds like vintage STP! Love Chester’s vocals."

According to the band members, Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz, when it came time to thinking of a replacement for Scott Weiland, Bennington was at the top of the list.

“Chester has a one-of-a-kind voice that we’ve admired for a long time,” said Dean DeLeo.

“We know Linkin Park will always be his priority, but we thought it would be cool to try something together. We managed to find the time to record a song and we’re all really happy with the result.”

“I’ve loved STP since I was 13 years old and they’ve had a huge influence on me,” explained Bennington.

“When the opportunity came up to do something creative with them, I jumped at the chance. The guys in Linkin Park have been incredibly supportive of me undertaking this project while I’ve continued to work on new music with LP.”

Prince is back with that Minneapolis sound.

The Artist formerly known as a symbol had two leaked tracks hit YouTube, 'Screwdriver' and 'Breakfast Can Wait', off a new album, tentatively called Plectrum Spectrum (but they were quickly removed as fast as they appeared).

Another new track, 'Fixurlifeup', can be heard on Ernest Radio Network, which features 3rdEyeGirl (listen here).

Prince has just finished a club tour, performing twice a day, which started in Vancouver and took him through Las Vegas and California, before ending in Montreux.
