AC/DC Rip Up Sydney Post by: Eddie Ruckus 19 February, 2010 - 5:52 AM

Wow, seriously. What a sight. What a sound. What a show. What an experience.

Obviously, it’s not every night you get to stand in a humongous stadium with 70,000 music lovers and watch one of the greatest rock bands in history do their stuff on one of the biggest stages ever seen, but it would be great if it could happen more often.

AC/DC were simply awesome last night at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium. Seriously, how many other bands ever can get a stadium full of people up on their feet as one, right to the very back rows, singing along and playing air-guitar?

No matter where you were in the venue last night, the sound was great – and loud. Just awesome.

It’s just amazing to stand there with 70,000 others, pumping the air and screaming together: “You shook me all night long!” Or: “TNT – Oi! Oi! Oi!”

[BTW, a special thanks to all the young ladies out there for the boob-fest on the big screens.]

Of course, the band doesn’t change the show much night to night – last night’s setlist was exactly the same as what they played during their three nights in Melbourne and pretty much the same as what they’ve played all tour.

But who cares? There is no doubting the commitment and passion every member of the band puts into every single note.

Up front, Angus and Brian run a marathon between them and never miss a beat. Angus’ ever-lasting guitar solo during “Let There Be Rock” is the stuff of rock & roll legend.

The band’s nightly tribute to Bon Scott, with candid pictures of the singer flashed on screens 10 storeys high during “High Voltage”, was more poignant than usual last night, today being the 30th anniversary since we lost him. Bon’s cheeky grinning face appropriately got one of the biggest cheers of the night.

Bon might not be on stage with them in person, but even all this time on, his spirit lives on every night in his and AC/DC’s music.

After two-hours of pure ecstasy, it was over with a burst of fireworks. Somehow, while it was happening, it felt like time stood still. But as soon as it finished, it felt like it had lasted only an instant.

It was like being at one of the greatest parties of all time. If you were there last night, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

If you’re still holding onto tickets for one of the upcoming shows, seriously, you’re in for one of the nights of your life.

Hail, hail rock & roll. Hail, hail Acca Dacca!!! It's great to have you home.

Who was there? What was your favourite moment?

Last night I sat in my backyard in West Ryde 4km away as a crow flies, listening to the show anticipating Saturday's concert with a childish silly grin on my face and goosebumps.

The sound emission fine was money well spent.

RIP Bon. You would have been proud...

    See ya all there...

Wow it was awesome! I have loved AC/DC since I was a kid and last night took my niece and nephew who loved it just as much.

I just hope they do another tour in a few years so I can take my kids.

The best moment for me was when they first came out on stage after waiting for nearly 12 months since we bought our tickets to see them.

It was my first Acca concert. I have seen a few bands in my time but this takes the cake. You just can not believe at their age that they are still playing the way they are.

Money well spent, I was glad I got to see you guys live.

    And thank you Triple M.

    Thanks
    Live on Bon Scott

I'm 52, I've been to a lot of concerts of all varieties in those years, but last night was without a doubt the ultimate concert EVER! It was great to be part of something very special.

Flew down from the Sunshine Coast QLD to experience a night that I would never forget, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, even from the nose bleed seats.

If you have not got front row seats, it DOES NOT MATTER, the atmosphere throughout the stadium is like blood running through your veins, from one person to the next.

Hard rockers well behaved, congrats Sydney and AC/DC, SIMPLY AMAZING!!!

I've had 4 really brilliant days in my life. My wedding day and three AC/DC concerts.

10 out of 10. Just awesome.

Jail Break would have been sweet but no complaints.

    Loved It!!!!!!
