Bon Jovi Rocks Melbourne Post by: CK 13 December, 2010 - 10:31 AM

The bloke standing in front of us with his 'ZZ Top' beard, built like a brick s**thouse singing along at the top of his voice to Always was a funny reminder that this has been one awesome Bon Jovi concert.

Bon Jovi were in brilliant form perhaps spurred along that little bit extra by the fact that this gig was being streamed live to the net.

No matter how good they got they always seemed to find another gear whipping the crowd into a deafening frenzy for the whole of the two and a half hour show.

One of the crowd pleasers was a wild rendition of "Bad Medicine" complete with the torsos of gogo dancers on the big screens. They worked two covers into this version "Shout" and the Doors' "Roadhouse Blues" which one of our twitter followers, @CFCDominator, said was the best version he'd ever seen.

Bon Jovi also covered the Rolling Stones classic "Start Me Up" with Jon giving the crowd his best Mick Jagger impersonation.

To keep it local at around 10:20pm Jon donned a Melbourne Heart top for the last two covers asking the crowd who won, pity for him they went down to Victory 1-3.

Things did start to go a little weird when Jon started finishing songs with his best Zoolander "Blue Steel" impersonation, but the crowd didn't seem to mind.

Etihad Stadium was in full song under the closed roof, non louder than the acapella start to "Livin' on a Prayer".

Where was the brick s**thouse in front of us for that one? Getting more beer a little like our Ashes team.

I have been a Bon Jovi fan since the beginning and Saturday night I got my first chance to go to a concert and see them live... it was my youngest daughters 20th birthday present (she has been brain washed since day dot...) her birthday is today... other than the day she was born I don't think there has been a better birthday ever for her or me... I could not believe the generation spread that were there and the amount of men! I doubt I will ever go to a better concert... it was incredible! The rendition of Always was the best I have ever heard and I just love the attitude in the new song No Apologies!

Caught up with old friends and made new ones on Saturday night at Etihad. By far the best concert I've seen - even better than the last show in '08.

The energy in the 'room' was infectious and the band gave it their all. I loved when they played Diamond Ring with Jon and Richie mere metres from me.

It was made all the more special as that was the song that my husband played when he proposed to me.

Wednesday is my birthday and celebrating by going to the Friday gig in Sydney... can't wait!!!

I was at the Friday night show - mainly because I am trying to avoid ever going to a concert at Etihad again. It was a killer show and Louise is right - the generation spread was amazing. So many parents with their little ones in tow. The stand outs were the Bad Medicine medley (with Pretty Woman and Shout), In These Arms and of course Livin' on a Prayer. Would have loved to have heard Always and Someday... but maybe next time.

Clearly the best live band on the planet. Flew in from Sydney to catch both shows. Forget the rest they don't even come close to these guys.

Had 3 guys next to me that saw Metallica. They said BJ wiped the floor off Metallica.

    50,000 in Melbourne going crazy.

Thankyou bon jovi, best 2 nites of my life.

That was the 6th concert l have seen BON JOVI do. It was fantastic they had the crowd going crazy. Especially me and l went by myself. I didn't care about going alone. l was there for 1 reason only and that was to see BON JOVI. And they did not dissapoint me one little bit except when the show finished.

Does anyone know where l can get Bon Jovi's The Circle Tour Merchandise from? I missed out in buying some because the lines where huge. Etihad Stadium needs to work faster to get the lines moving, otherwise people will miss out.

I flew down from Sydney with my friend and we went to the Saturday concert. I have been every time they have come here & it was one of the best ever. The crowd was insane, all singing & dancing. They played great old & new songs for over 2 hrs. We are going Fri & Sun and can't wait. I LOVE Bon Jovi and am glad the boys are still coming here xo
