Coldplay Back At Work Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 8 December, 2009 - 6:45 AM
It feels like forever since we mentioned the name Coldplay, but news out of England is that Chris Martin and his non-descript mates are back in the studio and will have a new album out next year.
The band are again working with producer Brian Eno, who twiddled the knobs on their last record, Viva La Vida.
You might remember there was talk the band had already started work on new music way back at the start of the year, just before they came out for their Oz tour.
A “source close to the band” has now told The Sun newspaper in the UK that “Chris had wanted to record a new album while they were on the road but it was just too much.”
The source added the focus is on making an acoustic-based recording.
“Chris is determined not to be seen as a huge commercial rock juggernaut, filling stadiums and cashing in,” the source said.
“This is the plan to keep them as close to their fans as possible. The band are keen to make hay while the sun shines. They have hit a rich vein with their songwriting and feel more creative than ever.”
Coldplay finished their long world tour in London in September and have kept a low profile ever since, although that will change this weekend when it’s expected Chris Martin will make a guest appearance on the final of the ridiculously high-rating, dumb-arsed British TV talent quest, The X Factor.
Hands up who’s keen to hear some new Coldplay?

I can't believe you promote Coldplay! They don't represent any form of Rock in my opinion. It really needs to be looked at guys, seriously.
