Fresh Oasis Turmoil Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 25 August, 2009 - 7:15 AM
Yes, yes, yes, we know we’ve all heard it before a million times, but could it be trooly-rooly over for Oasis this time?
The band broke tens of thousands of Pommy hearts on Sunday night when they cancelled their headlining slot at the V Festival in Chelmsford at the very last minute.
Announcement of the cancellation was met with boos and tears from the crowd. A very brave Snow Patrol took to the stage to fill the spot, winning the crowd over with a couple of covers of Oasis songs including “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova”.
The official reason for the late pull-out was that Liam Gallagher was suffering a bout of viral laryngitis. The singer quickly got onto his phone and apologised to fans.
“The voice may of disappeared but I’m still here,” he wrote via Twitter. “First things first V I’m gutted, you’re gutted. I’m sorry, what can I say? F**k-all at the moment.
“Secondly, respect to those bands who covered Oasis last night, even though I might of given some of you shit in the past.” [MGMT and Keane also played Oasis covers in their sets.]
The V Festival show was supposed to be Oasis’s last British gig of their current world tour, which wraps up in Italy this week.
Last week, Liam again confirmed that the future of Oasis is more up in the air than ever. “For the first time in my life I haven’t got a f**king clue what’s going on with Oasis.
“He [Noel] doesn’t like me and I don’t like him. The only time I see him is on stage and we’re a little bit busy at that time to be f**king scratching each other.”
Do you think Oasis will ever actually split up or are Noel and Liam both just full of shit?

One cancellation due to illness on a twelve month tour - not bad (if you discount Noel's 'rib incident').
The brothers do tend to stoke the fires a bit as do the British rags; no publicity is bad I guess... These Oasis spats have happened in the past and they'll happen again. It doesn't change the bald fact that their music is brilliant and live, they blow your f'***ing head off, without many of the 'bells and whistles' other bands rely on.
I could see Noel going solo for a while before re-convening Oasis. He has an awesome collection of new songs apparently.
Anyone who saw his 2006 solo shows will testify that Noel and an acoustic=genius.

Brotherly Love - couldn't agree more! Their 2005 Oz tour was brilliant too.
I think this whole feuding thing has turned into more of a publicity stunt, unfortunately, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them back together again hopefully by the end of the year finishing off their world tour, with a possible return Down Under...
