Guns N' Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers Inducted Into the 2012 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Post by: Dave-O 8 December, 2011 - 10:18 AM

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2012 inductees, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N' Roses.
This was the first year that Guns N' Roses was eligible, which is pretty impressive considering legends like KISS are still waiting for their invitation.
Upon the announcement, estranged founding members Slash and Axl Rose have expressed their delight.
According to a post on the official GN'R Facebook, which we assume has the blessing of Axl, it said.
"Congratulations to all the 2012 inductees and our sincerest thanks to the Hall's organizers, committee members and voting delegates who supported the GN'R induction - it's a humbling honour to be recognized on this first ballot."
Slash said hours after he heard the news: “Thanks for all the R&RHF mentions, It’s quite an honour to be inducted."
While, original drummer Steven Adler told Rolling Stone magazine he was already working on his speech! "I've been working on my speech for the last three weeks, since I found out we were on the ballot. I've got a tent and a sleeping bag, so I'm going to be there the week before."
So now we've got that out of the way it will be interesting to see which version of Gunners turns up to the event, considering Axl has a new GN'R out on the road as we speak.
Meanwhile, over in the Chili Peppers camp, Flea was stoked to get the news. And he was sure to thank all the past members.
“I am not usually one to get to excited about awards or accolades, but about this one I am very excited indeed," he said.
"To be recognized this way seems especially full and profound. It makes me think about Hillel Slovak, without whom we would have never existed, and who created with us the foundation of our sound. He directly influences everything we have ever done. And of course, the mighty Jack Irons, our other founding member.
"It also makes me think of John Frusciante. Without him, we would not be going to the hall of fame. He taught us how to be a great band. He helped lift us to a much higher level, he is the greatest."
The 27th annual ceremony will take place on April 14, 2012 in Cleveland, Ohio, home to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame And Museum.
