Top 5 Most Overrated Bands of All Time? Post by: MMMusic 2 February, 2009 - 3:57 PM

Some artists match the hype that comes with making great music.

Then there are bands that do a couple of good albums and from then on dish up bowls of cold soup to 5-star reviews. The sheer mention of these overrated bands are enough to drive you stark barking mad.

Well, here's our official list of the Top 5 Most Overrated Bands of All Time.

Don't agree? Then gives us your list and don't forget to tell us why.

Top 5 Most Overrated Artists Ever

1. U2 - Can it get anymore pretentious than Bono & co.?

2. Coldplay - They sell-out concerts because all their songs sound the same. Still doesn't make it right.

3. Guns N Roses - If we hear one more time about how good Appetite For Destruction is... people, Appetite was done in 1987!

4. Red Hot Chili Peppers - What is it about the Red Hot Chili Peppers that makes them so highly rated? No, we actually wanna know. And don't mention the word 'funk' otherwise we'll be reaching for the nearest bucket.

5. Nirvana - Don't agree? Check out what Dave Grohl has done since.

Mate, if you wanna talk about bands that make the same record over and over again, then what about AC/DC?

Yep, I said it - 'AC/DC are Overrated!'

Could not agree more. Your top five is spot on the money. U2 are a lot of overblown wankers, don't know anything about Guns and whatever, Coldplay reminds me of a bland brand of luncheon meat, the peppers are feral LA smack heads who in true LA style have ripped off every riff ever created by anyone else and what did Nirvana do that Neil Young had not done in the 70s?

LOL!! Guns N roses, Nirvana Overated!???!! Worst thing I have ever read in my life.

Why don't we look at how many albums these bands have sold compared to anything now! and yeah dave grohl hasn't made foo fighters even close to nirvana. ridiculous article.

Guns N roses were a very talented unique hard rock band and I dont even have to begin how much Kurt Cobain has influenced peoples lives.

Agree with the first three but would replace RHCP and Nirvana with Oasis and AC/DC.

I'm fed up with listening to radio stations playing U2 more than other BETTER ROCK BANDS such as Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl, Icehouse, Choirboys, AC/DC! This is Australia last time i checked!!!!! We need to have less (preferably none!) U2 and get back to the roots of AUSSIE ROCK!!!!!

Yeah, not a bad list. Some of U2's gear is OK, but when you see them in concert and Bono starts banging on about Africa, I just kind of lose interest.

I'd also have to add that the Veronica's are easily the crappest band ever invented, and should be at the top of the list. I know the lyrics "I go oh oh, you go ah ah, lalalala" are up there with the best, but it's just my opinion.

P.S. to Jesse - did you know that every time you type "LOL", somewhere in the world a baby gets kicked in the head???

Where do you get your stats from? Coldplay and Gunners are the only ones that should be there. The other bands have defined music of the decades. The led the way in the music industry. AC/DC maybe would be there.

What do mean Red Hot Chili Peppers are overrated? They are the best band ever. At least you don't have AC/DC on there but come on!

Chilli wankers the worst sound, worst vocals, and just plain crap. Typical USA. Overplayed. They should be number 1 not 4.

They are crap and I've told my kids if they listen to them they will go blind as the band are wankers.

You got the top 2 right, then you seem to pick 3 bands who actually changed music.

    My top 5 would be

    1) U2
    2) Coldplay
    3) R.E.M
    4) AC/DC
    5) Oasis

It's a close call between the top 2, equally annoying singers, but U2 have been around longer so get the spot.
