Queen/Jacko Unreleased Collaborations Posted by Triple M Music 30 June, 2009 - 9:36 AM

Queen

One of the more intriguing tidbits to come out of the avalanche of stories since Michael Jackson’s death last Friday is news that the singer had collaborated with another late great icon, Freddie Mercury, on a set of songs that have never been heard in public.

Queen guitarist Brian May has revealed details of the collaboration on his website as part of his personal tribute to Jackson, who he says was a great fan of the band.

“He used to come and see us when we were on tour in the States,” May wrote. “He and Freddie became close friends, close enough to record a couple of tracks together at Michael’s house, tracks which have never seen the light of day.”

May also explained how it was Jackson who urged the band to release what turned out to be one of Queen’s biggest ever singles.

“It was Michael who heard ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ when he came to see us on The Game tour [in 1980] and told us we were mad if we didn’t release it as a single.”

He was right. The single topped charts around the world, including in the US.

What do you imagine a Queen and Michael Jackson collaboration would sound like?

A collaboration with Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson would be in the interest of every /////Queen/Michael Jackson fan I would imagine. Freddie's elegance as a singer combined with Michael's musical brilliance.
