Facebook is awash with tributes for a young footballer who has died after overdosing on a cocktail of drugs he took during an end-of-season trip to the Gold Coast.
Riki Stephens is one of 16 people who were hospitalised on Friday and Saturday nights after reacting badly to what was believed to have been "zombie drug" Flakka, but turned out to be a fatal mix of amphetamines, synthetic LSD and ecstacy.
He was on the Gold Coast for an end-of-season trip with team-mates from Victorian Aussie rules club Heathcote Saints.
It comes as three men prepare to face court in November, accused of being the source of the drug behind the wave of overdoses.
Two 21 year olds and a 24 year old have been arrested and charged with supply and possession of a dangerous drug.
