MRS DILLON'S WORLD FAMOUS TUNA MORNAY

Tuna Mix Ingredients (to be mixed together)
1 can sweet corn
1 diced onion (to be cooked with the potatoes)
1 large can of tuna
3 cups mashed potato
Parsley and lemon juice

White Sauce
1 tablespoon Plain Flour
1 tablespoon butter
½ teaspoon of prepared mustard with salt and pepper
2 cups milk

Method
In a microwave, melt the butter, stir in flour, mustard, salt and pepper. Gradually add milk then microwave on high for 2 more minutes until it thickens. Add to the Tuna Mix. Place in a casserole dish, top with grated cheese and crushed corn chips. Put in moderate oven until heated through and the topping is crunchy.

Is this the greatest tuna mornay in the world?

Will have to try this recipe. I am using
a recipe given to me 30 something years ago from Neil Kerley. He said his wife used this all the time and it was the best. My family agree and now my daughters and son are using it as well as other family members. Sorry Mrs Kerley, it is now known as Josie's mornay recipe.

The recipe I use - my mum's recipe - uses a cheese sauce instead of a white sauce and has the mashed potato spread on top of the tuna mornay mix. My mum makes her own cheese sauce, I use a packet.
I'll be trying this recipe, it sounds great. Except I will be using a packet cheese sauce. ; )

This recipe will have to be exceptionally good to beat mine, I make my own white sauce with a small amount of white vinegar, and I use crushed cornflakes with cheese for the topping, I must say i dont use mashed potato, if my kids like Mrs Dillons recipe it must be good, will keep you posted!!

I made your mum's tuna morney today. I'm not a great fan of fish in general, but this is really nice to eat. I didn't have any parsley or corn chips so i added dill and crushed cornflakes instead. It came out just as nice. Thanks for sharing your receipe Mrs Dillon, i'll be making this again for my family.

You didn't mention what she does with the mash potato. Mine is much easier and you don't have to make a sauce.
    Lge can of tuna
Can of cream of Asparagus soup
Cup of cooked rice or pasta
    Lge Can carnation milk
    Lge can of sweet corn
    1 finely chopped onion.
Put all ingredients in casserole dish and mix leaving the carnation milk until last so you can get the right consistency. Then put mashed potato on top and cover with grated cheese. Guarantee the kids will love it.

It sounds like a good recipe. When I make tuna mornay I always add some bacon. Sometimes I use a tin of flavoured tuna - eg. lemon pepper and a tin of regular tuna. The flavour is fantastic. For a cruchy top I use crushed weetbix and cheese melted on the top.
