David Hasselhoff
Known to most simply as "The Hoff", is an American actor and singer, who is best known for his lead roles on Knight Rider and Baywatch. He's also had a a successful music career, primarily in Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, where he's had hit singles.
Hasselhoff's first major role on television was portraying Dr. William "Snapper" Foster, Jr. on the daytime soap The Young and the Restless from 1975-82.
It was in 1982 when he was cast as the lead in Knight Rider that he would become a household name. He filled the role from 1982 to 1986, before reprising it in Knight Rider 2000 (made in 1991) and had a cameo in 2008's made-for-TV Knight Rider.
Three years after Knight Rider, The Hoff was cast in the lead role of Mitch Buchannon, in a pilot for a show called Baywatch. Centered around the work of a team of lifeguards and their interpersonal relationships, with plots usually centering on dangers related to beach and other activities pertinent to the California beach lifestyle, the show had everything - from earthquakes to shark attacks to serial killers, and even nuclear bombs!
A trademark of the show was slow motion shots of the attractive lifeguards running along the beach, particularly Pamela Anderson, Yasmine Bleeth, and Carmen Electra, all of whom were launched to fame by the show.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Baywatch is the most watched TV show in the world of all time, with over 1.1 billion viewers.
