JB's Man Crush - Round 4, 2009
James Brayshaw 20 April, 2009 - 1:09 PM
People who read this on the Triple M website will have probably worked out by now that I often go for players who are, shall we say, unfashionable. That can certainly be said about Brett Kirk, my Triple MVP for round 4.
The Swans beat the Blues at the SCG in a game that I reckon told us plenty about both teams. The Blues have enormous up-side but also have a way to go, and the Swans are not quite on the slide people were predicting after they were well beaten in round one.
A good reason for this is the core group of workers who make up the Sydney mid-field. I speak of players like Jude Bolton, Jarrad McVeigh, Kieran Jack and of course Brett "The Captain" Kirk. These are hard it, uncompromising, tough and courageous midfielders who work hard all day every day, regardless of the score line or opponent.
The younger players wearing the "bloods" jumper get no better example of what this club stands for than Brett Kirk. To use one of Spud Frawley's favourite sayings, he's unconditional at every contest, he's never beaten and he's committed to making everyone wearing the same jumper a better player.
I love what he represents and again on the weekend, against the much more fancied Carlton midfield, his impact was enormous. He just got better the harder and more in tight the contest became.
Put simply, he's a beauty, and for doing nothing more than he's always done come game time ... Brett Kirk is my Triple MVP for round 4.

What about the Jnr versus Snr discussion with Ablett. Again he blitzed the opposition, he is actually getting better which is mind boggling.

I just wanted to say i like his rugged good looks. He's hot. If he plays well that's a bonus. Brett has to be one of the best looking guys in the AFL.
