This will be a bleak draft...

Hawthorn are set for the bleakest draft in VFL/AFL history.

An aggressive and jaw-dropping period of trading saw the Hawks give up a significant number of draft picks in order to secure the services of Jaegar O'Meara and Tom Mitchell.

At different stages throughout the trade period, Hawthorn had their hands on draft picks 10, 14, 23, 36, 48, 52, 57, 66, 68, 70 and 72 - but all ended up at different clubs.

The Hawks are set to enter to 2016 AFL Draft with their lowest draft pick of 88 - received in the deal for Sam Mitchell.

And history shows this is an unprecedented position:

Hawthorn will also enter the draft with picks 90 and 108.

Things don't look much brighter in 2017, either, with their first-round future selection going to St Kilda as well as their second-round ending up at the Gold Coast.

They received Carlton's second-round pick for next year.
