Former Port Adelaide hero Kane Cornes has claimed on AFL Trade Radio that one of the all-time trade bombs might have played out this off-season.

With the news that the Suns aren't going to accept Hawthorn's offer for Jaegar O'Meara - currently picks 10 and 48 - Cornes claims that the Hawks pick swap with the Saints will be a massive bust.

"If the Hawks can't land O'Meara, then their trade with St Kilda for pick 10 is one of the worst trades ever," he sensationally claimed.

Hawthorn traded their 2017 first-round pick, as well as their two second-round picks this season (23 and 36) for St Kilda's pick 10 and 68 - all with the objective of bringing O'Meara to the club.

Cornes thinks it would be very bold of the Suns, however, to let go of their Rising Star winner for nothing.

"I get that the Hawks offer isn't enough right now, but surely it's better than nothing," Cornes said.
