North Melbourne have retired their No.29 jumper in honour of former champion Brent Harvey.

Harvey’s career came to an end this year after he wasn’t offered another contract for the 2017 season.

The 38-year-old finished up on a VFL-AFL record 432 games and 518 goals after 21 years with the Kangaroos.

Only the great Wayne Carey (671) kicked more goals for the Kangaroos than Harvey.

“I didn’t expect the number 29 to be retired, I think it’s a fantastic gesture though from the football club,” Harvey said.

“[I’m] obviously very privileged that the club have chosen to do that.”

Harvey is one of the greatest players to ever wear the famous blue and white stripes.

The future Hall Of Famer is a four-time All-Australian, five-time best-and-fairest winner, and was part of the 1999 premiership team.
