Former St Kilda champion Danny Frawley has told Triple M that disgraced player agent Ricky Nixon should not have agreed to be interviewed by Channel Seven’s ‘Sunday Night’ program.
Hear Spud’s take on this issue (0m 59s):
During the interview, Nixon answered a raft of questions concerning his fateful dealings with the ‘St Kilda schoolgirl’ which have ultimately cost him his professional career.
But Frawley, a close friend of Nixon, said the once powerful player agent did himself no favours by breathing new life into the saga which first surfaced more than two months ago.
“The Ricky Nixon scenario is a sad state of affairs, he’s in a bad place,” Frawley told Triple M on Monday.
“The best way to kill something is to deny it of oxygen,” Frawley said in reference to the saga involving Nixon and the ‘St Kilda schoolgirl’.
“He (Nixon) has just got to go and get well.”
The former Richmond coach said he was tired of hearing about the story.
“I don’t think he did himself any favours last night,” Frawley said.
“He’s a close friend of mine so it hurts me to the bone to say that but he’s got some real issues.”
“It’s easy to be critical but it doesn’t help anyone, no more than himself and more importantly his family and friends.”
Frawley also cast doubt over claims that Channel Seven didn’t pay Nixon for the interview.
“To put your family through that, the only way you’re going to do that is obviously (to) get some financial reward I would have thought,” he said.
Should Nixon have agreed to the interview with Channel Seven?
