Does Footy Need A Video Goal Umpire? Post by: Luke Darcy 27 October, 2009 - 9:42 AM

Goal Umpires are only human and do the best they can, but still there are decisions that make your blood boil. The most recent one was during the Grand Final, when Geelong's Tom Hawkins was awarded a goal for a kick that on replay clearly hit the post.

Surely a sport with so much riding on it in terms of success and people that are betting on the result deserve the fairest umpiring decisions.

why not, there is an air of excitement when in cricket we go to the 3rd umpire.Tennis now use electronic decisions when the players challenge. The technology is there, use it !!!! but only for close calls.
