Western Bulldogs spearhead Barry Hall has been voted the Hard Yakka Toughest Player of the Year by the Triple M footy public.
Hall won the award with 28 percent of the vote ahead of Hawthorn hard man Luke Hodge (23) and St Kilda superstar Lenny Hayes (18).
Dual premiership Cat Joel Selwood finished fourth with 17 percent and Triple M’s very own Gold Coast recruit Campbell Brown (14) rounded out the top five.
The trophy caps off a great week for the former Sydney premiership captain after he was named in the All-Australian team for the fourth time after booting a career-best 73 goals in his first year with the Bulldogs.
Hall’s ability to display controlled aggression this season continued his road to redemption after he unceremoniously exited the Swans due to a string of on-field disciplinary issues which were highlighted by his now infamous roundhouse punch on then-Eagle Brent Staker.
A likely factor behind the 33-year-old’s popularity with Triple M listeners was when he well and truly put North Melbourne serial pest Scott Thompson back in his place in Round 9 with a headlock that wrestling legend Hulk Hogan would have been proud of.
Congratulations Barry, you truly are Hard Yakka tough!
