The Australian Test cricketers are wearing black armbands at Adelaide Oval to commemorate the anniversary of Phillip Hughes’ death today.

It is two years ago today that Hughes died, two days after being struck in a neck whilst batting for South Australia at the SCG.

Hughes was just three days short of his 26th birthday.

The South African team and the umpires have taken the commemoration on, wearing black armbands as well.

The South Australian Sheffield Shield team will also be wearing black armbands in their match against Victoria at the MCG.

“We’ll have something planned as a team quietly, but nothing massive,” SA captain Travis Head said.

The armbands are the only planned public commemoration of the anniversary.
