The Young Gun Who Could Bolt Into Australia's Test Team
Piling on the runs.
After two failures in the second Test against South Africa and two more low scores in the Sheffield Shield, Aussie opener Joe Burns may be under pressure to retain his spot for the third Test.
And it might be his Queensland opening partner that replaces him.
Matt Renshaw has taken the opportunity and posted a couple of impressive scores for Queensland in this week's Sheffield Shield match.
He was on return from a knee injury suffered in the Matador Cup, and certainly hadn't lost his touch.
Renshaw ground his way to a first innings 108 on Thursday - at one point he was seven off nearly 80 deliveries - and posted a quickfire 50 in the second innings on Saturday.
The 20-year-old opened alongside Burns, who posted scores of 4 and 2.
Renshaw's first class average has now jumped to 44.39 after just 12 matches, above a number of candidates for a Test gig.
We could be seeing a lot more of him soon.
