Battle Of The Crazy Tennis Commentators Post by: Strak 28 January, 2010 - 11:10 AM
The style of tennis commentary at the Australian Open has never been talked about so much. It's come a long way from the dulcet tones of Sandy Roberts and Gary Wilkinson.
In years past we've had international former greats like Pam Shriver and John McEnroe, but Jim Courier and Henri Leconte have taken it to a whole new level.
From Jim's random comments to Henri's movie impersonations, all of sudden the players in the slower games are taking a back seat to the bizarre comments these guys are coming up with on a regular basis.
Our favourite so far has to be Henri Leconte doing his best Al Pacino from Scarface.
Here they are up against each other. You decide who is the wackiest of the tennis callers.
Here's some of Courier's best work out of context.
Now listen to some of Henri Leconte's magic
Who do you think is the maddest tennis commentator? Is it Jim or Henri. Tell us what you think.

It's great! He sounds like he really loves the game, sure he might be a bit biased towards the French. he should be on all the time.

Henry sounds like John Cleese doing a bad Monty Python sketch, personally I prefer Jim Courier calling the tennis.

I just came across Nick Bollettieri's Video interview (http://bit.ly/d8NGUB)on how he trained and guide those champions. It's all about winning, the attitude Nick engraved in the minds of the champions.
