Former Bulldogs star Luke Darcy has all but written off his old club’s chances of making any significant impact on this year’s finals series.

Speaking on Triple M’s Hot Breakfast on Monday, Darcy said the Dogs would find it almost impossible to cover their injury concerns – especially those surrounding 2008 Brownlow Medalist Adam Cooney.

Cooney is in doubt for the rest of the year after he injured his hamstring during the Bulldogs’ loss to Sydney on the weekend.

And compounding things for the Doggies were injuries suffered by Dale Morris (shoulder) and Brad Johnson (Achilles).

“That is just an enormous loss,” Darcy said of Cooney.

“You can’t cover a Brownlow Medalist who can break the game the way Cooney has been able to do.”

“Dale Morris has also injured a shoulder, Brad Johnson looks as though he’s going to be in strife as well come finals time.”

The Bulldogs lost to the Swans by 44 points and the performance proved to be extremely concerning for Darcy.

“The issue the Bulldogs have got was that you would have hoped they’d go to Sydney and actually just put out a performance that reminded everyone of why they are a top-four side,” Darcy said.

Is this the end of the road for the Bulldogs?
