Chris Houston has been dropped by the Newcastle Knights after being charged with supplying drugs.
The club wasted no time in standing down their former captain after he was served a court attendance notice yesterday morning.
It's ironic the summons comes from the same police task force that was hoping he would testify against his former flatmate, Danny Wicks, over his drug supplying allegations last December.
Knights CEO Steve Burraston, told The Daily Telegraph he was surprised Houston was allegedly involved.
"There have been rumours around that someone else was allegedly involved and there is always the fear that there was some truth in that."
That same rumour mill is now predicting that he will follow his former flatmate and walk away from his club contract over the controversy.
This is a major shock for the Knights, who are likely going to be shunned in the first rounds of Triple M Footy Tipping!
