Sharks chairman Damian Irvine has explained why the Cronulla Sharks have not placed an alcohol ban on bad boy Todd Carney.

Speaking with The Triple M Grill Team this morning, Damian said there is only one policy for Todd: “Behave like a man. Behave with respect.”

“Todd is a great young man. All the guys in our club are. He turns up on time. He’s fit. He performs."

He admitted that the 2010 Dally M Medal Winner had issues in the past but was hopeful the club's culture would set him on the straight and narrow.

“Todd is no different to 98% of blokes aged 20-30 that I see out on a Friday & Saturday in Sydney," he said. "He has had issues in the past… Todd is a great young man.

“We didn’t put any specific laws in place for Todd. We believe in our own custom and culture. We don’t single anyone out.”

MG had previously discussed with Todd the alcohol issues which he faced at previous clubs. Watch the video above.

Can Todd Carney lead the sharks to Grand Final glory?
