NRL Match-Fixing Shocking Text Post by: The Grill Team 15 September, 2010 - 9:24 AM

NRL match fixing

Cowboys boss Peter Parr has declined to comment on reports three players at the club have been identified as persons of interest in the NRL betting plunge investigation.

Parr says he can't comment on the case as it's in the hands of police.

This follows strong rumours surfacing on The Grill Team that a number of high profile NRL players and player managers are involved in a match-fixing scandal.

This week, Gus Worland of the Grill Team was sent a text (censored image above) by an NRL official confirming the scandal, which the media have been largely silenced over due to it's sensitivity.

"The names that have been mentioned are not just fringe first-graders ... Why would you risk everything that you are in this game, everything that you know you are about, for money?" Triple M Sydney's Mark "MG" Geyer said on the Grill Team last week.

The NRL have declared they are unaware of the betting scandal. "[The NRL] made clear that not only did they know nothing about it, but that the two incidents that they were aware of, 'irregularities' within this year, which was the Melbourne Storm for the Spoon, and the Cowboys/Bulldogs game, they'd referred them to the police," Stuart MacGill said on the Grill Team on Wednesday morning.

"The fact of the matter is if anyone was involved in gaming and we could prove that they had done anything to manipulate a result ... football would become a memory," NRL Media Manager John Brady said on the Grill Team last week.

I should know a thing or 2 about match fixing.

The very first word in the text explains alot.

"Apparently" is not fact, it is someone making a guess as good as yours or mine.

Apparently in the next 3 weeks it will rain.

does that make me a weatherman??

Like MG said, this is not on, its a disgrace for a game thats been played for over 100 years, don't just ban them from the game lock them up and throw away the key. We don't need this type of crap in and around the game.

Yeah yeah yeah, all this sort of crap was bandied about when Canterbury were involved in the Coffs Harbour scandal. We'll see what comes out after the GF.
IF it's true, then those responsible should be banned for life.
That's what happens when money and greed get together. You let people bet ony anything they can and it'll get abused or rorted.
