Trevor Gillmeister was speaking as he launched "Rocket Launcher - A Rugby League Adventure" on the Gold Coast ahead of the NRL All Stars.
The book aimed at teenagers is about a young NRL fan, 11 year-old Billy, who wants to play footy despite his mum worrying he will be hurt.

The idea for the book came about when his nephews asked why there weren't any footy books for them to read when they were younger.
"If we can get them reading books, get them into that habit, maybe they're just pick up other books and start reading again."
Gilly hopes the book which also includes footy tips will be the first of an "on-going series".
