A former Wallaby great has said he doesn't want to see Quade Cooper play in the Scotland test.

"Quade Cooper is not right after the Brumbies game, he was a bit timid going to the line, about being physical," Matt Burke told Triple M's The Rush Hour.

The former Wallaby said he would rather see Kiwi-born Mike Harris take over kicking duties and the number 10 jersey.

"Kurtley Beale is out crook, O'Connor is gone, you've got to get someone who is fit because even thought they are playing Scotland, you've got to be up for it," Burke added.

The Reds star five-eighth has played only 120 minutes of rugby since returning from his knee-reconstruction after last year's Rugby World Cup.

Robbie Deans will whittle the 39 man-squad and announce the team after this weekend's club fixtures.

Deans has said he is treating the Scotland game as a test despite the lack of players available due to the Super Rugby scheduling.

The Wallabies will play Scotland in Newcastle on Tuesday 5 June. Tickets  www.proticket.com.au
