Wolfmother’s Big Return
Eddie Ruckus 9 February, 2010 - 6:15 AM
It’s probably not the best week for Andrew Stockdale to give up coffee, but the Wolfmother frontman says he’s pumped about his band’s upcoming shows with AC/DC.
Talking to Kerrang magazine, the singer said he’s “very excited” about opening up for Acca Dacca on the biggest tour Australia has ever seen.
Asked if it’s a dream come true, Stockdale replied: “Well, I never thought about it, but it should be good. They’re massive shows.”
While it might feel like Wolfmother have fallen of the face of the Earth since releasing Cosmic Egg late last year, they’ve actually been busy playing sold-out shows in Europe and the UK since the start of 2010.
Footage of Andrew Stockdale and his longhairs playing in Europe surfaced recently on the internet and we uncovered this explosive little gem from the band’s recent club show in the Netherlands. In it the band are on fire closing the set in total abandon, threatening the audience with his guitar.
The band also sees a new track called “Alice” feature on the soundtrack of the latest Johnny Depp blockbuster, Alice In Wonderland, which is due out next month.
For anyone in Sydney who’s not going to one of the Acca Dacca shows [LOSERS!!!], you can still catch Wolfmother live when they play a free show at the Apple/iTunes store in the city centre on the evening of Friday, February 19. The gig starts at 9PM and it’s a first-in, best-dressed scenario.
Are Wolfmother worthy of the opening slot on the AC/DC tour? Is there some other band you would have preferred?
