UPDATE: Swanee aka John Swan has stepped up to the plate and joined Barnesy's tribute album. Swanee is Jimmy's brother and will do a song called "Have A Little Faith", while his son-in-law Ben Rodgers is also on the album with a song called "Remedy".

Jimmy Barnes is coming to the rescue of the Queensland flood victims with a new album to raise much-needed funds for the flood appeal.

Australia's favourite working class hero has rallied his musical family - which is a pretty impressive list including daughters Mahalia and EJ, Barnesy's son David Campbell and brother-in-law Mark Lizotte (Diesel) - to contribute a couple of songs each.

The album will be called Flood Light and all money raised will go toward the flood appeal.

While no release date has been announced, according to Jane Barnes' twitter they are working hard to make it available by mid next week. Fingers crossed.
