Cobain’s New Hollywood Bio-Pic Post by: Eddie Ruckus 22 February, 2010 - 6:18 AM

Not for the first time, Hollywood is preparing to project the tortured life of Kurt Cobain on to the big screen as popcorn entertainment.
Cobain, who would have celebrated his 43rd birthday this past weekend if he was still with us, was previously the subject of the 2005 feature film Last Days.
However, unlike that movie, where the director wasn’t allowed to use Cobain’s name or music, this new version is basically an authorised bio-pic, backed by Nirvana’s record company and – gulp! – Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love, who will act as the film’s – double-gulp! – executive producer.
The film, which has been in the works on-an-off for several years, will be primarily based on the Cobain biography Heavier Than Heaven by music journalist Charles R. Cross, which was released in 2001.
“A lot of people working now in Hollywood, for them, Cobain was an icon,” Cross told the Rolling Stone website over the weekend. “So there’s a genuine investment in seeing the movie done well.”
Meanwhile, Mrs Cobain played her first gig in over a decade with her band Hole in London last week. The 45-year-old had to heavily rely on a teleprompter throughout the gig.
A new Hole album, Nobody’s Daughter, is due out at the end of April. Yep, can’t wait for that one …
Can you wait for the new Hole album? Who do you reckon should play Kurt Cobain in the Hollywood version of his life?

I definitely think that the role of Kurt should go to a no-name actor. Maybe even an actor playing his first major role- or first role ever.
I think it would be dangerous to put the role in the hand of someone established. The role needs to come from a mind completely fresh and unbiased by how a role should be played.
As for Courtney - just go downtown to where the cheapest prostitutes work and pay her $100 to play the role.
Hmm, I wonder if the movie will have the part where Courtney kills Kurt?

sorry mookie, but bedtime stories are good for some, maybe you should have watched the "7 ages of rock" feature on Nirvana / Seattle sound, Kurt killed himself, everyone's accepted that. don't get me wrong i've got no love for Courtney but she didn't shoot him, he was on a self destructive path ever since he made it big.

Matt, I watched 7 Ages of Rock. I have seen many specials on Nirvana and the Seattle Scene. But my opinion isn't swayed by what I watch. So you hold your opinion and I will continue to hold mine. And may Nirvana continue to rule!

Awesome, a movie about Kurt Cobain :)
The actor should be someone who is from Seattle and know the grunge style.I do not believe that he killed himself, look at www.cobaincase.com

I feel like Joe Anderson would make a good Kurt ... he looks a lot like him, and he's talented, which is always a plus.

Well to tell the truth I really do think that joe anderson should play the role. I mean he looks exactly the same. I bet he might just talk like him too.

If Courtney Love is gonna help produce it and make it, it's gonna suck... It's time to make the Nirvana movie... get an A-List director like for the Doors Movie... they got a great director Oliver Stone and an A-list actor Val Kilmer to play Jim... Ewen McGregor or Emile Hirsh should play Kurt Cobain... I hope the movie does get made just not with Courtney Love in the makings of it

It would be awesome to watch a Kurt Cobain movie. But Courtney Love as a producer? I have some reservations about that...
I hope it will still turn out well regardless.
