GN’R Riot And Stage Collapse Post by: Eddie Ruckus 16 March, 2010 - 6:18 AM

Seems that Axl Rose can bring out the worst even in yuppies.

Guns N' Roses eventful South American tour started with a bang last week when the band failed to turn up to a private club gig for local models and billionaires in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, notoriously one of the most violent places on the planet.

Needless to say, the lingerie models and their pimps weren’t too happy and immediately set about destroying the venue when it was announced the band wouldn’t be showing up.

“The audience got angry and started to mount the stage, and fight and destroy everything,” a witness told a local newspaper. “It was wild. There were fights everywhere, on the dance floor, in the bathrooms, outside the club. Crazy. I guess the free drinks didn’t help.”

The fun continued a couple of nights later when the band did show up to their gig at the local stadium in Sao Paulo, but Axl stopped the show about a minute into the first song after someone threw a bottle at him [see video].

“Where’s the little f**k over here?” Axl asked. “C’mon, coward. You wanna f**k up the show for everybody? ’Cause I’ve got no problem — I will leave. We will all leave.” [Etc, etc]

The band did end up playing out that show, but had to cancel their Sunday night gig in Rio, Brazil, when a massive storm hit hours before the show, destroying the band’s stage.

Axl put a message up on Twitter explaining that several roadies were injured in the stage collapse, and the band would look at rescheduling the gig. He also revealed that a tour truck carrying gear for the tour’s support act, The Sebastian Bach Band, had crashed and rolled several times. The driver survived but the band’s gear is on life support.

Would you pay to see GN’R, knowing there’s probably only a 50/50 chance of the band showing up to the gig?

Guns N Roses are one of my favourite bands but I wouldn't pay to see them, particularly if they're gonna show up two hours late!

After seeing their last "concert" I wouldn't bother a second time round. Axl and his tribute band didn't take the stage for more than 2 hours after Sebastian Bach (who was awesome!!!).

Don't waste your money; wait till Slash tours with the other members of the real guns and roses!

Slash won't tour with the other old members of GnR you twit and the Guns n Roses shows are well worth the wait and they are playing anywhere from 21/2 - 31/2 Hours, So you get what you pay for!!

Haha, awesome! God bless Axl's little fragile and temperamental heart.

I went and saw GnR when they were last in Sydney. Yeah, the band was delayed getting into Sydney cause of bad winds in Brisbane delaying their flight, but once they got there, they played hard for a good 3-3.5 hours.

It was a really good show. Sebastian Bach was fantastic, as he extended his show a bit to cover for the delays. On the whole, I wouldn't hesitate going to see them again.

And if you are waiting for Slash to tour with the old GnR crew, then good luck to you.
