Haiti Telethon Live Coverage Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 23 January, 2010 - 2:30 PM
Highlights from the Hope For Haiti Now Telethon
The music industry sure knows how to throw a benefit gig and the world is about to see the biggest show since Sound Relief in the name of the Haiti Earthquake relief.
This Friday night in LA – Saturday afternoon, our time – one of the greatest arrays of talent ever assembled will do what it can to raise funds for the victims of the Earthquake.
Hosted by Wyclef Jean and actor George Clooney, over 100 stars have locked in to appear on the telethon, including Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Wyclef Jean, Sting, Rihanna, Dave Matthews, John Legend and Stevie Wonder.

U2’s The Edge last night also revealed that he and Bono will appear from London, debuting a new track they’ve written especially for the event with Jay-Z (pic above).
The as-yet-untitled song, as well as other performances from the show, will virtually immediately be made available through iTunes, with all monies raised naturally going straight towards the cause.
“Last night we wrote a song,” The Edge told a radio station in Ireland. “Bono got a call from a producer, Swizz. He and Jay-Z wanted to do something for Haiti.
“So, Bono came up with the phrase on the phone, and last night we were here, we wrote a song – finished, recorded, and sent it back to them. So that might be the next thing you hear from us!”
The Hope For Haiti telethon will be broadcast live and commercial-free on MTV Australia from midday [AEDT] on Saturday.

I would personally like to thank each and every person involved in this concert for the hope that it has given those in Haiti.
For the compassion, support and most of all the belief in us and the unselfless giving of their time, consideration, resources and fantastic music. It means a lot more than you could imagine.
Yours truly

Music Industry Helps Haiti says
I am happy to hear about celebrities and the "big names" reaching out. I am also interested to hear about underground bands, the music community, and other aspects of the music industry - who else is reaching out?
