Men At Work Death Threat Post by: MMMusic 24 February, 2009 - 6:30 AM
What the hell is going on with all our Oz Rock superstars of the 1980s? Have they all gone completely bonkers?
While we were all engrossed in the latest installment of the INXS soap opera late last week, many will have missed a little item out of the US about the former Men At Work guitarist Ron Strykert being arrested for apparently showing up to a property he used to own in Los Angeles and causing a bit of a scene.
Well, apparently that’s not exactly what happened. Turns out Strykert was actually arrested by the Los Angeles County sheriff’s department on an outstanding warrant of making criminal threats.
And who did he make those threats against? Oh, he just threatened to kill Men At Work singer Colin Hay a couple of years back, that’s all.
Strykert, who co-wrote many of the band’s biggest hits, including “Down Under”, left the group way back in the mid-’80s but has always claimed that Hay screwed him over on royalties.
For the record, Hay told authorities that he didn’t believe the guitarist would carry out his threats.
Has Jimmy Barnes turned out to be the sainest of our '80s rock gods? Should we be keeping a close eye on Peter Garrett? What do you think?

Good to hear a little bit of craziness and genuine insanity is coming back to music!

Chris Davies says
Ron Strykert is a gifted musician and is another victim of lead singer ego.
