New Van Halen Album Sounds Like "Old-School Van Halen", Says Insider Post by: Dave-O 5 July, 2011 - 9:52 AM

David Lee Roth could just tell us when the new Van Halen album is coming out but that's not really his style is it?

As you can see in the screen grab below, Diamond Dave sent the internet rumour mill into a spin by leaving a cryptic message on his official website that simply stated "Get Ready", which everyone is guessing is a teaser for the new single from the band's long-awaited studio album.

One man who has heard the new album is Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti, who is a close mate of Van Halen's bass player Wolfgang Van Halen. He told Colorado rock radio station Radio 94.3 KILO that after hearing them in rehearsal the new tracks are sounding like "old-school Van Halen". This, of course, is music to our ears.

"They took what they could from all their old demos back in the '80s and did what they could to create songs out of old ideas, so it sounds like vintage Van Halen," he said.

"The music sounded like very authentic, old-school Van Halen."

The new album is rumoured to be out around August. Van Halen will be in Australia this September playing at the Soundwave Revolution festival with Alice Cooper, Hole and Alter Bridge (featuring Slash's Myles Kennedy).

Simply said... God Is Ed. Its about time Edward!!! When will we get a listen of the new single? My wife won't let me go and see Van Halen when they come to Brisbane Cause I missed my son's birth when they came in 1998.
