Wow! What a show. What a tour. The Gold Coast saw the Foo Fighters play their last gig on the weekend. And what can we say?! The Foo Fighters gave us the best Fooken time of our entire Foo life!
Now that they've finished rockin' Australia, we enlisted the help of Triple M's Dangerous Dave, Jo Lynch, Johnno Keetels, Lee Simon, Mel Andersen and, of course, Triple M Foo fans everywhere to compile their Top 11 highlights from this freaking awesome Wasting Light tour. The results are below (in no particular order).
1. THEY PUT ON A REAL ROCK SHOW
How good was it to see a real rock 'n' roll band and show, and not people that stand there and press buttons on computers! Love that sentiment. Rock 'n' roll ain't dead baby!
2. THEY KEEP IT REAL
Dave Grohl dedicating "Wheels" to the Gold Coast cop who threw him in the clink for riding a scooter while drunk after a Big Day Out 10 years ago. Dave says he's reminded of the incident every time he flies into Australia when he has to tick that little box on the landing card that asks if you have a criminal conviction!
3. A LITTLE FOO FAN CALLED ZANDER
Zander, of course. That little tacker is a champion. He got up and sung with Dave Grohl at the second Melbourne show. Zander is part of the Make A Wish foundation and the band gave him a guitar. The best thing was that it wasn't planned for him to go on stage. Dave just spotted him and called him up. TOTAL ROCK LEGENDS.
3. DAVE'S HOTNESS
Dave had the audience in the palm of his hand. The sight of Dave running up and down the centre walkway, hair flowing… what enthusiasm to just get on and play his tush off! And all the gals got a HUGE perve on Dave!
4. THE SETLIST
We loved the setlist from beginning to end. They played all our fave songs, saving the best till last - closing the show with "Everlong" made the night perfect!
5. FOO VISION
The funniest part of the night was when they had the night vision camera backstage before the encore. It was hilarious! Our face was sore from laughing - funny bastards they are!
6. FOO LOVE
Foos fan Graham chose the concert in Sydney to propose to his girlfriend Becky (see the pic above). She accepted, and everyone clapped and cheered. If that’s not a sign of a solid rock show, what is?
7. THE MUSICIANSHIP
The guitar-off between Dave and Chris Shiflett during "Stacked Actors". Two guitar heavyweights going at it hammer-and-tongs! And then Dave showing us his softer side with an acoustic version of "Big Me".
8. HOW GOOD THE NEW STUFF SOUNDED LIVE
We expected to rock along to faves from years ago, but for us the highlight was the the newer stuff from Wasting Light like "Walk and "These Days".
9. THE MOSH
Watching the crowd go nuts from beginning to end. The atmosphere in the mosh was incredible and they lived up to the hype! We got to feel every note and every beat of the best concert ever.
10. WE'RE FAMOUS
Dave revealed they were filming us for the "These Days" clip! It looks like all Aussie shows combined will make the clip.
11. HOW MANY WAYS CAN YOU SAY THE WORD F***
Triple M's Lee Simon called for "Dave’s potential Nobel Peace Prize for Literature for continued creative, varied, considered and totally appropriate use of the word F***!".
