U2 Coming To Australia Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 17 August, 2009 - 7:31 AM

U2 fans, here is the news you’ve been dying to hear – U2 will definitely bring their 360° tour to Australia next year.

U2 were in London over the weekend where they played two sold out shows at Wembley Stadium.

It was in the lead up to the show that a band insider let slip that U2 are locked in to end their biggest tour yet right here in Australia late next year.

It’s been previously reported that U2 has always planned to be on the road for 18 months, which means they should hit our shores around November 2010.

What’s more, it looks likely the band will leave one of their massive claw stages here in Australia as a permanent reminder of the tour.

Mark Fisher, the architect who devised the claw, revealed to the BBC in the UK that he’s been talking to the band about leaving the claws in the tour’s final destinations. The band built three of the claws in total, each worth about $50 million.

“My vision, which I’ve been discussing with the band, is that we will turn them into concert pavilions,” the architect explained. “Part of the tour will finish in Australia and another part of the tour will finish in South America, where people could use a nice concert pavilion in a park.”

Thanks for the offer, mate, and thanks for the awesome tour confirmation!

What do you reckon – will this be U2’s best tour yet?

I gotta say i was a little disappointed with their latest album No Line on the Horizon.

But I'm still gonna buy tickets because U2 always put on one hell of a show.

I'm not sure if this will be their best ever... The When Love Comes To Town concert series, was by far the best for me... less effects, more music

I saw them in Dublin July 24 at Croke Park.

I've seen every Australian Tour since ZooTV which I rated as my best ever concert until July 24. This concert, the lighting, the staging is awesome.

This is a must see event!
