Slash on 'Appetite For Destruction'

"I don't see it as this big record"

Slash and Triple M go way back. So we've gone back into the vaults to remember his exclusive interview with us about 'Appetite For Destruction'.

"I don't think of it as a favourite of mine.I don't see it as this big record. I'm too close to it," he explained.

In the clip he also talks about being in the band at that time, and what it was like making a record like 'Appetite' with that combination of five guys.

"I never thought in a million years it was going to be as big as it became."

JUST IN: First Look At The Lemmy Statue In Hollywood

The legend lives on

The heavy music scene is still in a state of mourning over the loss of Motörhead singer, Lemmy Kilmister.

The music legend who he defined rock’n’roll, he has been immortalised with a life sized bronze statue placed at the iconic Rainbow Bar and Grill, Sunset Blvd, Hollywood.

The statue was unveiled in a ceremony at the Rainbow Bar and Grill 24th August (LA time), attended by rock’n’roll royalty, Lemmy’s family and fans who travelled across the world to attend the event.

Texan born artist Travis Moore nailed it, with every detail that of the rocker, including the customised cowboy boots and mole on his cheek.

A common sight at the legendary bar would be Lemmy, cowboy boots on, sitting at the end of the bar with an endless supply of ‘Jack and Coke’ (now re-named The Lemmy) and playing the electronic game machine.

The only time he wouldn’t be there is if he was on the road, touring with Motörhead.

Although a hugely popular rockstar, his down to earth, real persona is what really touched those who met him.
Dave Grohl, Slash, Ozzy Osbourne just a few muso’s who were deeply saddened by his loss.

Triple M’s Jane Gazzo had the pleasure of meeting the legend in 2002, saying:

“Do they come any more rock than Lemmy? He not only played rock, he was the total embodiment of rock and roll. Lived and breathed it.
I met him at the Metal Hammer Awards in London around 2002. He smelt of bourbon and leather and was a gentleman.
There'll never be another quite like him.”

There is talk of a bar opening in tribute the the heavy rock band called, Motörhead Bar and Grill, that will include memorabilia of the band and personal items of Lemmy’s.

10 Albums You Bought Just To Look Cool In High School

…Because you weren’t anyone if you didn’t have these spinning on your Sony discman.

Mostly indecipherable feedback noise. But Rolling Stone mag said they were cool so you dropped $30 on it.

You only bought this because you heard Nevermind and thought this would be just as good. It wasn’t.

You heard You Oughta Know and thought it was cool…until radio played ALL OF IT ALL THE TIME. Chucked it to your little sister instead.

Because it said fuck a lot mum would only let you play this on the discman.

You didn’t even like them but it made you instantly cooler having any of these on your CD rack.

   6.   BJORK - POST

Because that weird big-band sounding song was big on the JJJ Hottest 100 one year.

Sounded like something chicks would like to pash to.

Remember when he was cool?

Because you wanted to seem dark and broody and you thought Kylie was hot but didn’t want to be open about it.

See above Bleech.

Jacqui Kassulke grew up in the 90’s and bought most of these CD’s with her pocket money from her weekend job hosting Maccas birthday parties. They didn’t make her any cooler though.

You can hear Jacqui on Sydney's 104.9 Triple M, Mon-Fri 9-12.
