The game is a single or two player alternating turn beat 'em up. The gamer plays the character of Keiji Thomas, who's girlfriend has been kidnapped by a Mr. X. The objective is straight forward, Keiji must battle his way through five different levels to rescue his beloved Sylvia.

Set in a fictional American city called Metro City. Final fight is a scrolling beat em up game. The plot is based around the kidnapping of the Metro city Mayor's daughter by a gang of street thugs known as the mad gear gang. The Mayor doesn't give in to the gang's demands and decides to enlist the help of his daughters boyfriend Cody and his friend Guy to help get his daughter back.
