Hartlett Set To Make Call On New Club
Currently meeting Victorian clubs for talks
Hamish Hartlett is meeting Victorian teams this week as he finalises his preference for where to play in 2017.
Where Hartlett will play his footy next season has generated intense speculation with rumoured interest from various clubs incuding the Suns, Richmond, North Melbourne and even at one point the Crows. The Port Adelaide star midfielder has been allowed to talk to other clubs to help release the pressures of the salary cap at the Power and as long as the club receive a first round draft pick in return they will let him leave.
Essendon are understood to be prepared to make that deal, putting them in pole position for his signature at the moment.
However, Triple M understands that at least two other Victorian clubs are currently talking to Hartlett and the player will inform his current club by the end of the week of his preferred destination.
His final choice will be revealed after the AFL trade talks that will take place between clubs on Monday at Etihad Stadium.
