Hawthorn have made the official decision to not nominate father-son prospect, Ben Jarman.

Jarman's father, Darren, played for the club in 109 games from 1991-1995 before moving to the Crows.

The Hawks decision opens the door for Adelaide to nominate the youngster in the 2016 draft:

Hawthorn Recruiting and List Manager Graham Wright said on the Hawks website that the club were not in a position to draft the young forward.

"After careful consideration we have decided to not nominate Ben under the father/son rule," Wright said.

"Due to the lateness of our picks in the 2016 National Draft, which at this stage carry no points, we felt we could not commit to Ben.

"We have informed Ben, Darren and the Adelaide Football Club of our decision.

"We will still consider Ben like every other player when we have our selections in the national and rookie drafts."
