Vickery Officially Joins Hawks
Richmond fail to match Hawthorn's bid for key forward
Hawthorn have officially secured the services of Richmond key forward Ty Vickery as a free agent.
On Monday, the Tigers failed to match the two-year deal Hawthorn offered Vickery.
Richmond have received a second-round draft pick, currently No.26, as compensation.
“Ty’s a terrific person, and has given our club great service in his eight seasons at Richmond,” Richmond general manager of football talent Dan Richardson said.
“We accept the free agency system has provided Ty with this opportunity, and we understand his desire to seek a fresh start at a new club to continue his football career.
“The club wishes both Ty, and his wife, Arina all the best for the future, and they’re always welcome at Richmond.”
A former top-10 pick, Vickery has played 119 games and kicked 158 goals for the Tigers over eight seasons.
Vickery was dropped twice this year and finished the season playing in the VFL.
