Fremantle midfielder Harley Bennell will travel overseas next month for medical attention after suffering yet another calf injury at training last week.

Bennell missed the entire 2016 season due to right calf issues. His latest setback occurred in his left calf.

The former Gold Coast player will be assessed by Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfarht in Munich in December.

Dr Muller-Wohlfarht is considered a world leader in soft-tissue injuries and has previously treated Collingwood’s Ben Reid and Geelong’s Max Rooke.

The Dockers are optimistic Bennell will be available for selection by Round 1 next season.

Bennell hasn’t played a senior game since he ran out for the Suns in Round 22, 2015.
