Collingwood President Eddie McGuire has mocked suggestions Pies star forward Travis Cloke will end up at Fremantle, as has been put up in a report on Wednesday.

The Herald Sun ran a story based on a statement issued to the paper by Fremantle saying "we will speak to a range of player managers about the contract status of a number of players who are on the AFL's free agency list".

The Dockers refused to confirm they are going after Cloke, for what the report suggested could be for $1 million per season.

However, this didn't stop the newspaper running a digitally-altered image of Cloke in a Freo jumper, which McGuire joked had his head turning purple.

McGuire's Triple M Breakfast co-host, Mick Molloy, jumped on the report and was right on the front foot with a wind-up.

"Forget the phone hacking, this is a disgrace," said McGuire on the image being a bigger News Limited scandal than the News International hearings in the UK involving Rupert Murdoch.

"Have a look at the photo. You couldn't pay him a million bucks to wear that," added McGuire, who compared the potential Dockers' bid to a hypothetical involving Molloy moving to SBS.

"If they're offering a million bucks, I'm listening," replied Molloy.

Meanwhile, Dane Swan has said he would not begrudge Cloke turning his back on the Pies for a lucrative deal elsewhere.
