Luke Darcy Says There's No Chance Of Western Bulldogs Recruiting Brendan Fevola
Find out why Luke Darcy thinks his old club won’t recruit Brendan Fevola.
Triple M Footy expert and former Bulldogs star Luke Darcy has told The Hot Breakfast that there is no chance of his former club recruiting fallen star Brendan Fevola for next season.
Darcy’s comments come in the wake of Bulldogs legend Doug Hawkins telling the Herald Sun on Thursday that the Doggies should take a punt on the troubled former Carlton and Brisbane full-forward.
“The bloke's still a gun. He can play footy at the top level,” Hawkins told the Herald Sun.
“If the club is not prepared to at least speak to Fev, they are not doing the members and supporters justice.”
Hear Darcy talk about Fevola’s chances of joining the Bulldogs (1m 15s):
But Darcy didn’t share the same optimism as Hawkins and said the club wouldn’t take the risk of signing up another controversial but talented footballer like they did with Jason Akermanis in 2006.
“My feel is (it’s) not going to happen,” Darcy told Triple M’s Hot Breakfast.
“I don’t think they’ll probably take the risk of doing that again and my gut feel will be not a chance at all.”
However, Darcy said it would be ‘fantastic’ if Fevola found another AFL home in 2012 and Collingwood president Eddie McGuire said he wouldn’t be surprised if that did occur.
“He’ll entice somebody,” Eddie said.
Do you think the Bulldogs should take a punt on Fevola?
