Mike Hussey Hits Back At Critics Of Steve Smith’s Captaincy

Hussey hits back

Former Australian middle order batsman Mike Hussey has hit out at criticism of Steve Smith’s captaincy on Dead Set Legends today.

Huss was chatting to Dan Ginnane, Richard Freedman and Mark Bosnich when he was asked about Smith’s captaincy.

“You gotta remember, he’s still a young guy,” Hussey said.

“He hasn’t captained for a long period of time, so it’s gonna take some time to grow into the role and get better and better the more he does it.”

Hussey also defended Smith’s nous.

“I actually think he reads the game quite well,” Hussey said.

“I’ve spent a bit of time with the Australian team at the T20 World Cup in India, and the way he read the game was actually very good. Strategically he was good.”

Hussey backed Smith to continue improving.

“I know he’s been criticised for certain moves that he’s made,” Hussey said.

“But I think generally he’s just gonna get better and better as captain.”
