Nissan has unveiled its first Altima V8 Supercar to the world today at the Kelly Racing headquarters in Braeside, Melbourne.

The unveiling of the Nissan Altima was an historic moment for V8 Supercars, which has been wholly dominated by Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores for the past two decades.

Kelly Racing will campaign four of the Nissan Motorsport V8 Supercar Altima's in the 2013 V8 Supercars Championship.

Powered by a 32-valve, quad cam Nissan VK56DE engine the Nissan Altima is sure to cause a ruffle in the feathers among the existing manufacturers.

V8 Supercars CEO David Malone said it was exciting for the world to see the first Nissan V8 Supercar Altima.

"This marks the beginning of a new era for V8 Supercars. It's very exciting for our sport, fans, teams and drivers," said Mr Malone.

"New manufacturers joining the series will mean heightened competition and new technology racing on circuits around Australia and the world.

"2013 is a revolutionary year for V8 Supercars and the unveiling of the Nissan Altima is just the beginning. I congratulate Kelly Racing and Nissan for their hard work and look forward to seeing the cars' debut at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide next year."
